AIGA Annual Conference

DESIGNER COLLABORATION

The annual AIGA Design Conference is an epic event for all types designers and held in a new city each year. It is an exciting way to collaborate and mingle with the best designers in the world.

The theme for 2019 was “cultural inclusiveness” with ethical discussions about how design can make a positive humanitarian difference in the world. They celebrated the many worldwide styles and cultures, discussing unique challenges. Exploring these differences was to bring ideas to the forefront.

PROPOSED STRATEGY

This self-directed proposal visually expressed ‘reaching out’ and experiencing different cultures, with the abstract graphic—to stretch towards each other for insight. ‘Insight’ was also expressed by a die cut of the main graphic in the brochure, that gave a peek into our humanity, plus the list of events and speakers.

Stevie’s 80s Tour

TOUR AND ALBUM

To kick-off  Stevie Wonder’s latest 80s In Your Corner Tour, his new album, “In Your Corner”, would be launched in tandem.

The overall design of this self-directed campaign was inspired by illustrator, Pablo Lobato. He would be commissioned to do all illustrative elements for the campaign.

WEBSITE

This website mockup of a one-page scroller directly reflected the campaign poster design. Merchandise could be bought online.

VINYL ALBUM DESIGN

Stevie loves to relate directly to his audience, and he resurrected an idea he came up with in the 70s—to add braille lyrics in the album. As a nod to this inclusive action, we translated the lyrics in braille, and included embossed braille into the design on the cover of the full-size vinyl album, which was on trend and nostalgic.

ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL MERCHANDISE

Promotional street banners and transit posters were required for each city. In addition to poster and album sales, other items such as t-shirts, caps, etc. were sold either online or at the events.

Zantac Gold Campaign

ZANTAC GOLD SOOTHES INNER STORMS

This self-directed campaign introduced Zantac Gold with a light-hearted and humorous tone, hitting their boomer-set audience in the gut with the promise of relief of epic heartburn. The original Zantac has always been a trusted remedy to still your inner issues, but new Zantac Gold is the ultimate “Masterpiece of Relief” that works better, faster and longer.

RELIEF FROM EPIC PROPORTIONS

Stomach distress manifests itself in many unpleasant ways—anything from an uncomfortable rumble to a painful explosion!

Famous paintings were combined with epic disasters such as tornadoes, fires, black holes or bombs, to create light-hearted metaphors that visually demonstrate the agony of stomach discomfort. This campaign aligned directly with the new product message in their tagline, “The Masterpiece of Relief”.

ADVERTISING PLACEMENT

The choice of magazines—Prevention and Toronto Life—were the perfect vehicles to reach the targeted educated boomer audience.

Terra Magazine

EXPLORE THE WORLD

TERRA, a spectacular new magazine proposal, targets those who want to explore every aspect of our world, from far off lands, cultures, the universe, to all of humanity. It inspires readers to broaden their horizons and attitudes, even if it’s just from their armchair. The direct competition is National Geographic magazine, but now that NatGeo has moved it’s interests primarily to screen, their magazine presence has been physically lacking due to it’s reduced size and print quality.

Terra fills that void by offering the market a beautifully printed oversize magazine with engaging articles and stunning photography. For those that long for the easy-to-read tactile experience of a physical magazine, Terra delivers in volumes.

PREMIER ISSUE

This first issue of Terra grabs your attention with remarkable photography and inviting design. The articles are riveting, and arouse curiosity. Attention to detail is paramount for the ultimate viewer experience.
